Children of Ethiopia

Agape Channel Charitable Organization was founded in 2012. They have been successful in meeting the needs of 105 underprivileged primary students from two government schools for six years until the Addis Ababa city administration started a similar project in all government schools. However, there are so many cities still in need of this program which led them to focus on Gondar.

The school feeding program in Gondar started on the 6th of October 2017 at a primary school named Addisalem. Initially 10 underprivileged children were assisted with lunch at the school compound. Currently, there are 12 children included in the school feeding program.

The depth of the need is very high not just in Gondar but in so many cities across the country. As much as we want to increase the number of children that could benefit from the project. Funding has been a big constraint, as the sole and sustainble source of funding is the founder and CEO of the organisation.

The founder Wongel, is an amazing women who is a good friend of my husband and I. She has a big heart for children. Wongel started this organisation while she was still a student, (being a student is financially difficult as it is). But she would take money out of her own pocket to support as many children as she possibly could.

Giving back to my community especially the underprivileged children in Ethiopia has been something on my heart for a long time and when I met Wongel and saw her heart and passion in this, I knew I had to help in someway. Therefore, I decided to merge the two things I am passionate about art and giving back to my community. So for every donation, I will send a free print of my artwork. The past couple of years has been difficult in Ethiopia and I really want to bring a bit of joy and hopefulness to these children. So if I’m able to raise enough we want to give all the students presents for the New Year.
