Chook Sanctuary - for unwanted hens.
I rescue chooks from the chopping block. Help me fund the costs of food & vet bills so more can live out their lives happy and with dignity.

It all started when we moved onto our lifestyle block and the previous owners left behind 4 chickens. I fell in love with their wonderful quirky natures. Seven years later and I have enjoyed the company of many more by rescuing them from the chopping block that seems to be the fate of most hens when they have stopped laying or get sick. I take them in and look after them, they free range around our beautiful 10ha property and live out their days very happily. We have just built them a lovely new house. I currently have 18 plus a rooster and food and vet bills all add up. So, I'm asking whether there are any chooky lovers out there who would like to give a dollar to help me in my mission to make their little lives better. Donors are welcome to come and visit and see our happy feathered friends.
Use of funds
The money will be spent on chook food and vet bills which are an ongoing cost as long as I keep rescuing hens. Any surplus as a result of me no longer doing this would go to the SPCA or another animal sanctuary.

I am overwhelmed with the generosity that people have shown with their donations towards my girls, and Ninja the rooster! It couldn't have come at a better time, as I have sadly had to take one of the little shavers to the vet today. She fell poorly a few days ago & I've been lovingly caring for her, hoping she would recover, but alas no. Your generosity has helped her live out her life with dignity to the end, as well as ensuring others continue to do the same.
Latest donations
That's amazing Ian. My gorgeously funny hens will be in chook food for a while now. We've had a couple of vet trips since you made the donation. We had to have one of the Red shavers put down, but another one pulled through after lots of nurturing and love from us. Thankyou so much, all the donations help it happen. Keep well during these hard times.
