A non-profit, student lead project to rural Fiji villages, to provide health screening, promotion, education and establish a water supply.
Auckland
My name is Chris Varghese and I am a second-year medical student at the University of Auckland. I will be traveling to Fiji on the 29th of December 2017 for 2 weeks to participate in the Fiji Village Project with other nursing and medical students from New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. During our time in Fiji, we will be helping with health screening checks, help with small structural projects around the village (especially regarding clean water supplies) and be contributing to health promotion, education and assisting in health care related activities. In the 2 weeks, we will travel to 3 villages in association with the local medical schools. This project is student initiated and non-profit.
This trip is fully self-funded and each individual is required to raise $750 minimum, excluding flights and accommodation. Any donations will be greatly appreciated!
I'm a second-year medical student from the University of Auckland. I'm a part of a group of volunteers who are aiming to provide aid to improve the health of people in the rural villages of Fiji.
I will be involved in the building of water tanks for clean water supplies, health promotion, education and medical screening checks. We hope to get immersed in the communities to make a direct impact on their health!
Rural villages in Fiji have a demonstrable need for help as they are often under-resourced. As a member of the Fiji Village Project, we hope to provide as much assistance as we can!
The minimum $750 will be used to meet the cost of medical supplies and equipment to build water tanks. Any excess above this will go towards accommodation, flights, and gifts for the local Fijian people.
