Help For Chris's Recovery

  • Chris's Recovery Update

      4 August 2017

Chris has been stable in Wellington Hospital this week and got to enjoy time with his son Nico on his 2nd birthday on Tuesday.

Today Chris is undergoing surgery to remove excess fluid from his lungs. This procedure will mean Chris will move back to ICU for a few days so nurses can monitor his chest drain and ensure the fluid continues to clear.

Chris has been able to to catch up with family and friends this week and passes on his thanks for the huge amount of support shown to his young family.

While he still has a long way to go, hopefully today's surgery will mean he can get on top of the infection once and for all.

We thank you again for your continued support, thoughts and prayers.

    Kind Regards

    Rach & Family

  • Chris's Weekend

      31 July 2017

Chris has had a great weekend and is now fully awake and off the ventilator. Chris will hopefully be moved out of the ICU and into the ward at Wellington Hospital if all goes well today. Chris's son Nico flew up to Wellington over the weekend to spend some time with his dad, they were both very happy to see each other.

Chris still has a long recovery ahead, he has another week in Wellington while specialists continue to monitor his progress, then hopefully he will be transferred back to Wairau hospital and then home.

The Tau'alupe family thank you for the generosity and support you have shown towards Chris and Brooke during this time. The fundraising page has had a huge response and having any financial burden removed has been a huge relief to this couple.

    Kind Regards

    Rach & Family

  • Friday Update

      28 July 2017

Chris has had a positive night in the Wellington ICU. Doctors have been able to reduce the Oxygen % in the ventilator and will be bringing Chris out of his induced coma.

    These are all great signs!

We are hoping to see more improvement over the weekend.

Chris still has a long recovery ahead of him, he will need significant rehab to help his get back to normal function and is expected to spend at least another 1-2 weeks in Wellington.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity so far. Chris and Brooke are so grateful to have you thinking of them and praying for them.

    Kind Regards

    Rach & Family
