Our goal is to launch a captivating Rail Trail [Grade 1] connecting Longburn to Himatangi and Foxton village. It will be designed to immerse visitors in the unique and intertwined stories of Māori and European heritage through interactive experiences, original flora, and eye-catching sculptures. This trail will drive sustained economic growth for rural communities [Himatangi, Foxton Village / beach, Bainesse, Rangiotu] and Palmerston North by attracting both locals and tourists.
Further Interconnected off-road cycle corridors will enable visitors to discover the region on a variety of memorable rides each day from Palmerston North, which will act as the HUB for riders and walkers.
