CJ Needs New Wheels!

$5,175 of $10,000 goal
Given by 44 generous donors in one year

Help raise funds to buy 5 year old CJ a wheelchair accessible van, and give him fuller access to the good life he deserves.

Our 5 year old son Christopher (a.k.a CJ) was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome since birth. PWS is a lifelong disability. Due to this, CJ has low muscle tone which significantly impacts his mobility.

CJ is a fun loving boy who is aware of his disability but has made great progress in being able to get around by crawling, bottom-shuffling, etc. although he easily tires. He is not able to walk and uses a wheelchair to get around.

As a whanau we are needing a new vehicle which would be able to have modifications done so CJ can easily get into and out of the car with his wheelchair. This will greatly benefit CJ, and allow us to enjoy family outings as well as taking CJ to his many doctor appointments and to school.

We have been granted some funding by the Ministry of Health to have the modifications done to the vehicle, however based on our circumstances we cannot afford to buy the new vehicle by ourselves.

Therefore we are kindly requesting that you please help support us by donating towards this page so we are able to purchase a new van to accommodate our little boy CJ.

Thank you all so much!

Use of funds

All funds raised will go towards the purchase of a modified van, which will allow 5 year old CJ to be transported easily to school, medical appointments, and anywhere else he needs to go.

Exciting Update!  31 October 2022

We have raised the funds needed to purchase a mobility van for CJ!

Huge, massive, heartfelt THANKYOU to all those who contributed through the givealittle page, or direct to the bank account - although it looks like the fundraising goal hasn't been reached, when we add up the amounts raised through other efforts we tried over the last year, we have *just* managed to achieve the funds needed. And today we got the green light to purchase a specially modified van in Auckland that will be ready for us in the next few weeks.

We can't even find the words to properly express what this means. I've been sitting here trying to type sentences to describe just how this changes things for CJ, and for us as a family. There's too much to explain - too many things that haven't been accessible, that will be now because of the generosity and faith-filled prayers of people who chose to support our little guy. Many who we don't even know, but who CJ has connected with somehow, through church or kindy or school or one of his other adventures. We are overwhelmingly grateful.

We'll keep you posted as we prepare to purchase the van, so that those of you who invested can see how God turned your seed into a miracle for our wee man!
