THIS TIME DISABILTY ADVOCATE & TETRAPLEGIC CLAIRE FREEMAN NEEDS OUR HELP TO SURVIVE IN HER HOME INDEPENDENTLY!

Christchurch, Canterbury

Due to a car accident, while sleeping on the backseat as her mum drove, Claire broke her neck and became a young 17 year old living with tretraplegia. She has been a wheelchair user ever since, with various difficult operations behind her to make life possible. Her last operation about 5 years ago went drastically wrong, leaving her more disabled than ever.

It hindered her to continue working (after 15 years) as a medical graphic designer for a New Zealand hospital.

This and her life in general drove her to the brink of suicide.

Additionally her home became inaccessible for her without the help of others (The second video link demonstrates her problem ... unfortunately it is impossible for Claire to do this by herself).

Claire desperately needs funds raised to allow her to elevate her garage to independently get into her home again.

This is incredibly expensive, and ACC will not cover ANY costs for making this happen!

Neither will banks or similar.

Unfortunately raising the garage is the ONLY WAY Claire can enter her home with her much needed wheelchair.

Therefore, as her dad I am appealing to you to help my beloved Claire.

Claire is a devoted advocate for the disability Community, nationally and overseas. She has supported individuals and groups & intervend rentlessly at government policy level on behalf of the disability Community. Among many other issues, Claire is also visiting schools to talk about road safety. She advocates on social media, TV & radio about mental health & suicide prevention, better roading & building conditions for wheelchair users in particular and reframing the proposed End of Life Choice (euthanasia) Bill in New Zealand.

Claire is a strong, loving & selfless person, but this time I, her dad plead to you to help her!

Any contributions are highly appreciated.

Thank you, Phill Freeman

Use of funds

The money will cover Council fees, plans, new foundations, building materials & labour for elevating Claire's garage - as the garage currently sits on a slope in relation to the house. Any money raised will go towards this process.
