    Hi Everyone

    Thanks again for your contribution. I've had a number of letters from people expressing support and thanks for the open letter. I have not yet had a response from the Minister but I have an assurance from her Private Secretary (Climate Change) that a reply will be forthcoming. More positively, I see that she has recently requested cross-party talks on climate action - so perhaps we have made a difference!   • open letter: outcomes

    Hi Everyone

    I have had a number of letters saying 'thanks' for publishing this open letter. Also an email from the DomPost employee who set it up for me, enquiring whether the minister had replied!

    Alas she has not done so, therefore I have written the following to my MP: Dear Ms Adams

    We live in Selwyn so you are our local MP.

    several weeks ago I wrote to the Minister for Climate Change Issues, Hon. Paula Bennett, asking what meaningful steps the government intended to take to combat climate change, which is set to become the defining issue of our time. More recently I published much the same letter as an open letter in the DominionPost (see attachment).

    As I have not yet had the courtesy of a reply, I wonder if you would be kind enough to follow this up for me.

  • getting more ambitious...

    Thanks to all you generous donors we've raised over $1200 so far! I've decided to go for a larger ad., and put it in the DomPost. So I'm hoping you may know someone else who can help out a bit.

    There's almost certainly going to be a cost to sticking my neck out like this: I have to put my address in the ad, so I await the hate mail once it's published. But the battle must go on, for the sake of our young people - who will still be here when the proverbial hits the fan.

  • nearly there!

    Thanks everyone for your help with this fundraiser. We have nearly reached my initial goal! I am negotiating with Fairfax media about the format and placement of the advert - while the Press is a little cheaper, the DomPost may get more attention from the politicians.
