Raising funds for the North Canterbury Rural Support Trust
Kaikoura, Canterbury
Not long until I leave for Tanzania now. I've been doing some training walks up My Fyffe in preparation to begin climbing up Mount Kilimanjaro on the 26 December with the hope of reaching the summit 7 days later on New Years Day.
Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5895m (19,341 feet). The climb will hold many challenges like the cold, high altitude, rough terrain, long climbing hours and sleepless nights which leads to roughly 45% of people (16,500) not making it to the top.
I'm also doing this climb to raise money for the North Canterbury Rural Support Trust, a charitable organisation set up to connect individuals and communities with tools and resources to help with their own challenges on the farm or in the family. If you need to talk they are their to help on 0800 787 254 or check out https://www.rural-support.org.nz
I have no personal relationship with the trust.
Funds raised will be given to help farmers in North Canterbury access networks, services & government funding and to help people navigate their financial and personal challenges.
Funds will be paid to my mum, Colette as I am under 18 years old.
I made it! 8 January 2025
