Helping Barney Gould to reach the IFSC Rock Climbing World Youth Championships, Texas 2022

Hi, I'm Barney Gould and I am 14 year old rock climber. In May I won the New Zealand Youth B (U16) National Lead Climbing championships. It was an incredible experience and I have now been selected to represent New Zealand in Lead Climbing at the IFSC World Youth Championships in Dallas, Texas from 22-31 August, 2022.
Alongside my hard training schedule and school I am trying to raise funds to get to Texas. I am not receiving any funding for this and it's going to cost NZ$7800 (GBP3900) each.
This is a total dream for me and any support you could provide would be absolutely amazing. I am so proud and excited to be representing my country.
My passion for climbing began four years ago when I was 10. I have been an avid climber ever since and just love lead climbing and bouldering both indoors and out.

Such a rad trip! 5 September 2022
I arrived back from the USA 3 days ago. It was such a radical trip, which created life long memories for me and opened my eyes to the standard of climbing all around the world. Some highlights were: Actually competing and getting to climb some very well set and hard routes, climbing at the amazing gyms, meeting some super lovely and friendly people from all around the world, and forming a closer bond with the NZ team. Once again I would just like to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped me get to the US. It has been a life changing experience! (There should be a picture of me climbing attached).
