We are hoping to raise enough funds to replace the stolen rifles to keep our club operating and allow new members to have a go at the sport.
Nationwide
Recently the Cust Community Centre was broken into and as a result the local Playcentre and Rifle Club have had important items stolen. The West Eyreton Miniature Rifle Club had all the club rifles that were on site stolen (but without the bolts/actions so the rifles are no good to anyone as we store these separately). The Club has been operating for over 75 years without any previous issues. The club is set up to promote the sport of smallbore target shooting and we have been part of training some of our shooters to New Zealand representatives and Oceania shooters. A lot of local children come along and they are taught how to use a rifle correctly, how to apply discipline to a sport that is mentally challenging and how to be part of a team within the club, the Association and Target Shooting New Zealand competitions. We are looking to raise money to replace the stolen rifles so that our club can once again work with these juniors to proudly represent New Zealand.
Replacing stolen club rifles. The money will definitely go towards replacing club sports equipment
Many thanks to all who have donated 9 September 2019
Hi All, Firstly a great big thank you to everyone who has helped our little club so far. To date we have received around $800 of donations. One of our past members has long term loaned us a bolt action rifle and has given us another one (which is rather rusty and is missing the action but he hopes to find the action soon). We had our Champion of Champions shoot for the Association on Friday and can happily say that for our junior C grader, he used the rifle for the 2nd time to shoot for this and won the C grade and performed really well (nearly matched his personal best) for the Junior Champion. We have a great wee club and with it being the end of the season we can now put more effort into fundraising and trying to locate cheap but accurate 2nd hand bolt action rifles that will be suited to our newbies and juniors.
Unfortunately there is still no sign of the stolen club rifles nor the 2 Pete and I had on loan to the club to see if club wanted to buy. We keep hoping they will find them given they are inoperable and therefore of no value.
Please keep your eyes open for anybody selling target rifles without actions and for any second hand bolt action rifles coming on the market. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Please also keep sharing our Give a Little Page link as it is only through the sharing of this that we get coverage for more support.
Thanks everyone and good luck with the outdoor season and looking forward to seeing you again soon.
