Fundraising drive to restore the seawall .
Mangawhai, Northland
Following a stressful three years we are excited to report the hillside and clubhouse repairs are now complete thanks to the funding from Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) and the Central Government along with our very generous supporters who donated to our cause. MHVLS will be forever grateful.
We are now moving onto our next challenge !
MHVLS needs to rebuild the seawall and boat ramp ($650,000), also damaged during the weather event. Despite securing design plans and resource consent for the seawall and boat ramp, MHVLS has been rejected for funding by the Kaipara District Council (KDC), Northern Regional Council (NRC), Foundation North, Lotteries, and various other grant providers.
The health and culture of our club, which has provided volunteer lifeguard services at Mangawhai Heads since 1963, is critical to ensuring that the beach and surrounding area continue to be one of Northland's most popular spots and a safe location for tourists, locals, and their families to enjoy the water.
Please, we need your help now to protect this vital community asset and ensure our lifesaving services can continue for future generations.
The Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service (MHVLS) was formed in 1963. Since this time MHVLS has delivered its Volunteer Lifeguard every summer, ensuring public safety in Mangawhai Heads.
All funds raised will go towards funding critical repairs to the clubhouse itself, as well as essential upgrades to the seawall and boat ramp.
