    Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service is pleased to announce that construction will soon be underway to repair and upgrade the Seawall and Boat Ramp which was damaged in 2023.

    MHVLS is pleased to announce that funding has recently been secured from Surf Life Saving New Zealand to complete the repair and upgrade.

    We would like to sincerely thank SLSNZ and everyone for their donations and support. It is very much appreciated.

  • Seawall/Boatramp Project

    We are excited to share that funding has now been approved thanks to Central Government and SLSNZ.

    We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported our surf club throughout this fundraising drive. Your commitment and generosity have made this possible.

    We look forward to operating from our newly repaired clubhouse, with the added security and resilience of the upgraded seawall and boat ramp.

  • Clubhouse Update - 29 October 2025

    Works continue to progress well on the building repair. It is still hoped that the repaired building will be available to operate out of for the busy Christmas period, reducing the overall risk to beach users, with the full level of service available and shorter response times. To achieve this goal, we need your help.

  • Building repair underway at MHVLS clubhouse – but critical clubhouse repair and seawall funding still needed

    MHVLS is pleased to announce that the repair of the landslip behind its clubhouse is now complete.

    The building insurers repair contractor, Adron Construction, has now wrapped the clubhouse in weatherproof material and begun restoration works, expected to continue through to Christmas.

    While progress on the clubhouse repair is encouraging, MHVLS continues to face significant challenges in funding the repair of the clubhouse and the upgrade of the seawall and boat ramp directly in front of the club.

    The club has secured resource consent from Northland Regional Council (NRC) for the seawall and boat ramp, but despite best efforts, funding applications through multiple community grant channels have been unsuccessful.

    The club continues to negotiate its lease with KDC, amid growing concerns over future development plans at Mangawhai Heads Reserve. Key issues including access and parking remain unresolved, and MHVLS is advocating strongly to ensure any development does not compromise its vital lifesaving services.

    The Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service has now completed the major landslip repair behind our clubhouse — a huge step in restoring our operations. But we urgently need your help to fund critical repairs to the clubhouse itself as our funding applications have fallen short by $120,000.
