Coach Randy needs a New Game Plan!

$4,430 of $30,000 goal
Given by 20 generous donors in 5 weeks

Helping Coach Randy, to continue to support, love and enjoy many more special milestones with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Auckland

Randy, AKA ‘Coach Randy’ was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer in May 2023, he responded well to medication, and 15 rounds of radiation. Unfortunately his cancer has mutated and spread.

The current medication has no effect on the mutation, so it is now time for a new medication, TAGRISSO osimertinib. The mutation was biopsied, however the sample did not meet the criteria to have one month covered by insurance. We are organising another biopsy, to try to get a better sample.

However, Randy is deteriorating too fast to wait for another biopsy. We must act now and get this new medication started ASAP.

It pains me a lot that we are in this situation where we need to ask our friends and family for financial help, especially when the cost of living continues to rise.

Randy is supported by his beautiful wife Margaret, his adult children, Vandrew, Jonathan & Eva-Corrien, Cassidy and Corrina, and his four Grandchildren. Randy knows he has so much to live for and wants to continue to support, love and enjoy many more special milestones.

Randy has been a full time caregiver to his wife for many years. Coach Randy, has coached Basketball in the community for over 25 years largely volunteering his time, skills, and passion to share his love of Basketball.

Randy has been completely off work for a number of weeks. At this stage we are aiming to raise enough to get Randy 2 months supply of the medication. Any additional funds raised will be used for ongoing medication, and the cost of living for Randy and Margaret.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
