Fundraising for winter coats for dogs in need
Ngaruawahia, Waikato
At the start of winter 2021 I read a story of a local dog who passed away on a freezing cold night. As a dog lover it broke my heart. I started to collect old fleece blankets from friends to sew into dog coats with the idea to donate to dogs who needed them. The idea quickly grew into donations of $ from people as well as blankets. With the $ raised and some connections made through friends a fantastic pet store allowed me to buy coats with a huge reduction in cost and I was able to donate around 100 coats to kuri in need. Our local Community House took on the task of distributing the coats. This year 2022 it would be great to be able to do it again and maybe take things a little bigger
RJ Ainslie and I are two friends working together to make Kuri Coats happen.
All funds will be spent on dog coats to donate to dogs in the community who are in need of warmth in winter
Coats delivered to the Community House 24 May 2022
Yesterday over 100 kuri coats were taken to the Ngaruawahia Community House for them to start distributing to dogs in need of warmth this winter. The ladies there said since the Good Sorts TV clip went out on Sunday they have had phone call after phone call from all over Waikato enquiring about a coat for outside dogs.
