Coco's Colic Miracle (was expensive!)

Coco came in to Zoe's life in March this year after a long search to find the right horse. Zoe had a brutal start to the year, to say the least, so not only did Coco need to suit for riding but she became a therapy pony by default!

On Sunday 3 November when Coco was let out from box rest for a walk she began colicking. Despite after hours vet care, Coco colicked twice in 30 minutes before being sedated enough to take 10L of fluids and make it through the (sleepless) night. We thought we had it sorted! But by 4pm Monday, Coco began to colic again - much worse this time. The decision was made to transfer her to the Vet Hospital where she has been living since.

Zoe made the decision to not do surgery (financial and best interest) but after 24hrs in critical condition the decision was made to end the suffering. At exactly the 11th hour, Coco perked up and made remarkable progress. It now looks like Coco is out of the woods and ready to begin her eating rehab - something Zoe knows well!! The specialist vet called her a "Miracle Pony" and those words are expensive.

Unfortunately, the bill is racking up to around $10,000. Where many people would use insurance, an earlier hoof injury drained that source. Where most people would call on their parents, Zoe does not have that option. While she has a supportive network, there are financial limitations.

We would appreciate all and any support to making this process easier for Zoe going forward. Even her car is on the chopping block!
