I'm Lara, a kiwi vet Nurse volunteering to help the Rock Vets desex dogs on Niue and the dogs need collars, can you help?
Dairy Flat, Auckland
On March 25th I am fortunate enough to be joining The Rock Vets team heading to Niue to help run a desexing clinic. This not only provides much needed veterinary services to the island but also helps prevent the increasing numbers of feral dogs.
The current control measures in place are limited to authorities shooting feral dogs. However, when authorities can identify a dog is owned and/or desexed then it is much less likely to be shot.
The most effective way to do this is having a collar on the dog.
The Rock Vets already use the much needed funds raised to buy clinic supplies.
So here's where I need your help....I aim to collar 100 dogs that come through the clinic.
If you can give up your coffee tomorrow and instead donate the $5 for a collar to this page, you can increase the chances of a pups survival on Niue.
Alternatively if you would like to purchase a collar specially for the potential lucky pup, and get it to me in person, I promise to take a photo of the pup you helped wearing its new collar 😍
Second hand collars also welcomed (plastic clips preferred as the metal rusts in the salty environment).
I've started off by purchasing 20 collars, thats 20 dogs, let's get it to 100!
The Rock Vets is a team of vets and vetnurses that run veterinary clinics in Niue twice a year to provide veterinary services to the island and desex animals to reduce the feral dog population. I am volunteering on their upcoming trip at the end of March.
Every $5 raised will be used to purchase a collar for a dog that is desexed during the clinic, my aim is to collar 100 dogs
Thankyou so much for the support, you have helped one very lucky pup
