Helping with costs that come with preparing before and after surgery.
Levin, Manawatu-Wanganui
Kia ora team,
My name’s Chris Scanlan — some of you know me as “Boneless.”
This is hard for me to ask. I’m reaching out because I’m heading back into a tough chapter with my health. My tumours have returned, and I’ll soon be travelling to Auckland to meet with the Sarcoma team and prepare for surgery. This isn’t a small procedure — I’ll be undergoing major work involving bone grafts, plates, and screws to help rebuild my bone structure.
I spent a big part of my 20s fighting through treatment, and now I’m stepping back into that battle again.
As many of you know, my livelihood is built around being on my feet — coaching youth and adults in Muay Thai, and fighting to support my family. With what’s ahead, I’m facing time away from work, and that uncertainty has been weighing heavily on me.
I’m doing everything I can to stay strong, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about providing for my family during this time.
I’m looking to raise funds to help cover travel costs to appointments, ongoing treatment expenses, accommodation and to ease the pressure at home while I recover. Any support, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this message, would mean more than I can put into words.
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that starts in the body’s connective tissues — things like bone, muscle, fat, blood vessels, and nerves. That’s different from more common cancers (like breast or lung), which start in organs.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for standing with me.
Travel costs, accommodation for appointments, covering overheads such as living costs as I can’t work. So far I have had appointments in Palmerston North and Auckland. I’m based in Levin.
