Fundraise to increase the reward for Rock the Border Collie - Come Home Rock!

We are fundraising to increase the reward for Rock to Come Home safely - as it is becoming increasingly likely that he has been taken.

Wellington

I am a friend of Cristobal Avila and Flavia Wolf, who have recently lost their dog, Rock, in the Kapiti Coast area. Cris and Flavia have been overwhelmed with community support with people volunteering their time and energies in helping to get Rock home safely.

Sadly today (20th November), over a week after Rock first went missing, he is still not home safe. Rock has some medical conditions which mean that he is a healthy, happy boy; but it's still important that we get him home to his owners' asap so he can stay well and get back on the special diet they use to keep him well and his energetic, seven year old self. I will include a link to the Facebook page soon, so you can get a good idea of the full story; but basically Cris and Flavia planned and worked to bring over Rock from Chile for a long time - Cris had owned him since he was a small pup and his parents were caring for him in Chile until everything was ready for him to arrive in NZ. Having gained residency themselves earlier this year, the planning and long and expensive process of bringing Rock to New Zealand began!!! He was sadly only here a short time before he went missing, so all of the sights, sounds and smells of New Zealand are quite new to him.

This may be why we haven't had a confirmed sighting of him yet. The other thought is that he may have been taken; if he was taken, then increasing the current $100 reward may be what is needed to motivate someone to return him safe and well. I know personally that Cris and Flavia struggled with whether to increase the reward or not, as they did not want the many, many people who have been volunteering their time out of the kindness of their hearts to feel that this has not been appreciated; it most certainly has! With some recent offers of donations from members of the public, and time ticking away to find him; I have decided to take this decision out of their hands (they are already so overwhelmed) and do this for them.

As I said earlier, Cris and Flavia as caring owners' had already invested a significant financial amount to fulfil their commitment to Rock as his owner, and bring him to New Zealand. Currently, they are covering all of the costs of the search and the reward. If you feel able to contribute, it will be greatly appreciated by these lovely people, I can promise!!!

Not having family in New Zealand, it is a very important time for me as a friend to stand by and support this couple as much as I possibly can. They are the truest and loveliest people you could meet; and I don't believe it's an accident that the community are supporting them the way they are.

Use of funds

Increasing the current reward (to a capped amount), if he has been taken; this will hopefully motivate the parties involved to return him safely; and soon!

Rock the Border Collie is still missing  15 December 2017

Well, Christmas is nearly here, and Rock the Border Collie is still missing. We are very happy that Cris' parents, who cared for Rock until he could move to New Zealand to join Cris and Flavia, arrive on Sunday to help with the search. They are very motivated to find him, and are planning on looking at night while the world is sleeping; as we've had middle of the night possible sightings over the last couple of weeks. We have been very fortunate that Precise Print and Design printed over 10,000 flyers for us; and also we have continued to get great coverage in the local papers as well as the front cover of the New Zealand Herald!! But even so, the costs associated with the search for Rock to date have cost Cris and Flavia in the thousands. If we don't get Rock home in time for Christmas, we will have to think about doing a "January flyer drop"; but we don't loose hope! Just this week we heard of a dog called Rocky missing for four months before being found, although he was a little worse for wear. So we are extending the Give a Little page fundraising, in preparation for needing to get some January flyers and other communication out that the search is still on, such as paid Facebook posts.

I have been following the search for Rock everyday on Facebook hopping that each day is the day they get their boy home again. If I lived closer I would be out there helping in the search too. I have a red and white Border collie and if she was missing like Rock I would be absolutely devastated.
