Completing Our Family Circle - A Request from the Heart

My name is Tracy, my husband is Mark & we have a 12 year old son who we love dearly.

All 3 of us knew our family wasn't quite complete yet given that Dylan was conceived from a previous relationship & Mark did not have any children of his own yet.

We dreamed of having the opportunity to make our circle a little bigger but for reasons unknown to us in the 7 Years after Mark & I had met, fallen in love & got married, this part of our happily ever after had just not happened for us.

In September 2016 we had a visit with the GP for what we thought was going to be a simple process & a few tests which would explain why we hadn't successfully managed to conceive & carry to term. Little did we know...the universe was literally about to pull the rug out from underneath us & change our lives forever!

In November 2016 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. A first for anyone in my family!

Having a child was never far from our minds & unfortunately because my surgery was scheduled for 3 weeks after my diagnosis, right before Christmas & clinic shutdown, we did not have any time to try to save or harvest any eggs to be able to conceive later.

My only option at the time was to take medication to try to protect my ovaries from all the chemicals that were about to be pushed through my body over the next 2 years.

There was no knowing whether this medication would work or if Chemo would cause infertility.

In July 2018, I decided enough was enough, so I chose to stop the hormone therapy treatment which I was supposed to be on for another 24 months and given that at the time I was only 2 years away from turning 40, I knew if there was any chance of us being able to have a baby, this journey had to start now!

Mark & I have undergone multiple tests and due to the damage caused to my body, we are unlikely to be able to conceive naturally. We have been advised our best option is with an egg donor. There are currently no available egg donors & while we may potentially be covered for public funding, we don't have the luxury of time to wait as some couples can wait up to 5 years for approval & as the age limit is 40, I would need to be approved and in treatment within the next 12 months, which is not likely given that it's a 12 - 15 month wait on the program or potentially longer depending on when or if we can find a viable egg donor, that is if we are lucky enough to be approved for funding.

Fast forward to July 2019 and this where you, all our friends & family come into the picture!

They say is takes a village to raise a baby & we're hoping that our village can help to create the little miracle of life that is our Baby who is so wanted, so dreamed about and so loved already!

We are hoping that Our Village can help us to raise the money to assist us in our fertility journey or if you are willing to become and Egg Donor to help us create the gift of life?

You don't need to be in New Zealand to be willing to donate. You will however be required to travel to New Zealand in order for the egg donation to take place & these costs would also be covered.
