Supporting Connor Bell to represent NZ at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games

My name is Connor Bell and I am very proud to have been selected for the New Zealand Youth Commonwealth Games Team in Athletics, throwing the discus. Being selected to represent New Zealand is both an honour and a fantastic opportunity to compete against the Commonwealths best discus throwers.

I am a 15 year old student who currently attends Year 11 at Westlake Boys High School on the North Shore of Auckland. I have lived all of my life on a lifestyle block in Waitoki just outside Kaukapakapa, north of Auckland.

All costs to attend the games must be met by athletes. The cost of the trip is $6,320 and covers travel, accommodation, uniforms and team support. Any assistance you are able to provide towards the cost of getting me to the games would be fantastic and greatly appreciated.

I am working hard with my coach Dame Valerie Adams and conditioning coach Mike Schofield to throw as far as I am capable of and represent my family, community and country proudly.

My recent sporting achievements (Secondary School, Club, National and International titles and records) are:

• 2016 Junior Secondary Schools Discus and Shot put title holder and holder of the current discus record.

• 2017 North Harbour and Auckland Secondary Schools champion in discus and shot put and North Island Secondary Schools Champion in discus and the current record holder for discus in these events.

• At club level I holds the North Harbour Bays records for 14yr, U16, U18 & U20 Discus as well as U16 Shot Put.

• Auckland Athletics U18 and U20 yr Men’s Discus Champion

• U18 and U20 NZ National Athletics Champion in Discus

• 1st Place - U18 Men’s Australian Discus title.

• NZ U17 & U18 Men’s Discus record holder.

• WORLD leading u18 men’s discus throw for 2017 (as at 26 May 2017).
