This page has been created to support our precious little Cooper and his family throughout his recovery.
Bay of Plenty
On the 18th of December, at just 9 weeks old, our darling Cooper suffered from a large IHV/ parenchymal hemorrhage (a stroke and brain bleed), resulting in an emergency flight to Starship Hospital. Cooper underwent an emergency brain surgery to relieve the pressure and has since had a second surgery where they have inserted an EVD which is draining the fluid from his brain. Cooper’s brain has been damaged and we may not understand the full extent for years to come, but we do know this will be a long and challenging road for him and his family. Cooper, with his mother Shayna and father Gareth Rowlands by his side, will remain in hospital for the foreseeable future to continue to help him remain stable, recover and rehabilitate. While government and hospital financial assistance may be available (if applied for and approved), this doesn't cover everything. This page is set up to support Cooper’s family financially, allowing them to remain by his side and give him the best chance of a strong recovery.
