Southland

Leaving newborn calves suckling with their mum for about a week in a seperate barn while the cow gets milked twice a day. After one week the cow will return to the milking herd and will be spending together with her calf about one hour twice a day for the next two month. After a few days they will get used to it and create a deep bond.

We also need your help to provide the ultimate full end of life care. We want to keep our elder cows and let them retire here on the farm to live out the rest of their days on the farm they have always known. They are allowed to die peacefully in their old age or put down if they are suffering.

To turn our vision into reality, to take our protection of cows to the next level, we need your help to raise money to alterate and extend a calving barn for newborns and their mothers.

Every penny we get will go towards improving the facility for our cows.

Hi Franziska, this donation is via a Spark credit - it's nice to hear of someone else who finds the 'usual' dairy system very upsetting...all the best with your work :-)
