Help With Craig Ireland's Chemo Costs

$50,672 of $121,599 goal
Given by 296 generous donors in around 3 months

Help Craig Ireland access a privately funded 12-month course of chemotherapy for ongoing cancer treatment.

Hawke's Bay, Hastings District

In April, 2023, our dad, Craig Ireland, was diagnosed with rectal cancer. The journey since then has been a long, great, and deeply difficulty. Cancer has spread to his liver, and he has reached the limits of what public health care can offer. The costs associated with private treatment are significant, and we are asking for your help to ease the financial burden.

If you know Craig, you know how openly and generously and fully he shares his time with everyone. He has inspired many within the culinary space as a culinary arts teacher at St John’s College in Hastings. His commitment to his job extends far beyond the kitchen—he is a mentor, a role model, and a trusted friend to many. His kindness, generosity, and selflessness have earned him the respect and admiration of all who know him.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards funding these critical treatments, for 12 months of treatment. Your support will make a world of difference in Craig’s journey. We love him so much and owe so much to him; we hope we can get more time with him.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this challenging time.

A Final Thank You  14 February 2026

It is with intense sadness and a mountain of love that we share that Craig passed away peacefully last night. He was incredibly brave and fought this disease with courage, grace, and a fair bit of humour.

He was ready to go and we are all feeling at peace that he is no longer in pain.

Thank you to all his friends and family who have supported us through this journey and shared your stories of him.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
