It's the 10th Anniversary of Steve Joll's Famous Cranzacs biscuits with The Breeze Wellington and New World Thorndon.
Wellington
Every year, The Breeze Wellington team up with New World Thorndon to raise money for families connected with the RSA through the sale of Steve Joll’s Cranzacs.
This year, the money will be going toward 12-year-old Kataraina Southcombe and her family.
Kataraina, is diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum and is nonverbal.
She has a love for Disney. She uses these programmes to help regulate her emotional needs.
Kataraina is hyposensitive. She is under-sensitive and will seek out sensory stimulation. This includes eating foods with strong flavours and eating nonfoods like pool noodle foam. The constant need for physical movement & pressure and touch items that give feedback like hot, cold, sharp or rough.
As Kataraina gets older and physically bigger, she is needing even more stimulation to cope, it also means that the normal things we have done are not enough, and she is becoming very specific about her routine.
We would love to be able to purchase a spa pool and a purpose built bike attachment for Kataraina to help with physical activity, pushing her to accept small changes to her routine as well as the added bonus of being able to participate in family activities.
These items will be a big help to not only Kataraina but will have a flow on effect for everybody to continue to support her physical and emotional needs.
The target goal of $10,000 will be donated to the Southcombe family with any additional money being donated to the RSA for their Cyclone Gabrielle Relief Efforts
We're directly raising funds through the sale of Cranzacs via The Breeze radio station.
