I need to raise $2000 to enable me travel to Japan to connect with the communities our international students come from.
Canterbury
Hi I’m Tanielle Maina; I am 15 years old and serve as a leader at South-West Youth Community-SYC International, which is a youth group for international students to come to while they are in New Zealand. I’m passionate to help international students settle and connect in a safe and faith nurturing environment. Having moved to NZ from Kenya 10 years ago, I have first hand experience of what it’s like to find identity in a new place. As a leader, understanding the home context of our students will help me know how to journey with them. So I would like go to Japan in December 2018 with a group of 8 other leaders from SYC.
The aims of my trip are to:
•Increase knowledge and experience of Japanese culture.
•Form connections with vibrant and life giving churches in and around Tokyo to send Japanese students to go back to.
•Form connection with the group that helps Japanese Christians to settle when they return from overseas
•Reconnect with the young Japanese students that have been through SYC internationals ministry and encourage them in their faith.
•Visit the schools that the southern cross language institute students come from in Gifi and Okazaki city.
•Help all the leaders going on this trip to grow through cross cultural experiences.
I need help to make this trip possible.
The money will be used for flights, insurance and local travel in Japan. If the trip is cancelled or target exceeded the funds will be used to support international students in NZ.
