Raising funds for Cruz’s emergency surgery bill after swallowing a fish hook
Orewa, Auckland
Cruz, the friendliest dog with the sweetest heart, swallowed a fish hook at Orewa beach on Sunday 5th Jan and required urgent surgery.
X-rays showed the hook sitting in his oesophagus and was referred to a specialist. The specialist failed to remove the fish hook using an endoscope after finding it pierced right through his oesophagus and into his wind pipe. Receiving the call from the vets informing me that emergency surgery was necessary, with an estimated total cost of $10,000 to $14,000, was utterly heart-breaking.
Currently, the total cost is sitting at $10,048.06. This is an overwhelming expense that's set me back significantly. Thank you so so much to everyone who has donated already - you've really helped ease the financial strain from paying for the surgery upfront.
All funds raised will be used towards Cruz’s emergency surgery, x-rays, veterinary care and post-surgery recovery fees. Any additional funds raised will be donated to Saving Hope Foundation, the non-profit organisation who rescued Cruz when he was a puppy.
