    Hello All

I wanted to give a little update of my family’s progress post floods.

My brother Troys house is still awaiting zoning being finalised whether they can rebuild. He has taken it into his own hands and purchased a demountable 3 bedroom small home to put on the property so they can live back on their land & continue rebuilding the land, while they wait for the green light to rebuild the home.

They have just had a week away at a gifted holiday home a few hours north & relished in the time away and a little reset. Its been a arduous process thus far. Both mentally & physically. Troy has been a spokesperson for the area & holds community meetings bringing topics to the forefront & acting as a voice for the region. Recently the prime minister came to visit & Troy showed him some of the devistation & pointed out issues still to be resolved.

My parents Ngaire & Ross are faring well under the circumstances & are hoping the builders will make a start of rebuilding the family home. This will take 3-4 months. So fingers crossed it will all be smooth.

There is still alot of frustration regarding regulations & rebuilding etc but the family is open & supportive & have received alot of support. We thank you again for helping m family. I still haven’t been able to get back yet to NZ but hope to soon. Once again thank you so much.

This photo is one of the many groups of people that have come to help the gruelling clean up process! Lincoln University- Handy Landys ❤️

Todays the last day for donations to this page, thank you. My family continues to clean up & dry out the homes. Clear the properties & have community connections to come together to get more help & supporting each other. Its a gruelling task & now the tiredness sets in. The end is distant & each day hope will keep their heads ip to regain some normality after this huge interruption. My mother celebrated her 76th birthday & my family has had another set back with a friend of my brothers losing his battle with mental illness. Fortunately communication & connection keeps us/them keeping on. Thank you so very much for your kind contribution. Have a beautiful day. Fiona

Hello Almost 6 weeks now since the floods. Troy & Tracys house is almost clear after a weekend of digging the silt out from under the house by hand. Lots of hours on the digger’s & property surrounding house being cleared. Ross & Ngaires ( mum & dads ) home has been stripped more of jib & awaiting some drying inside the house. Outside property being cleared & lots of helpers making this a more enjoyable task if that’s a possibility.

Still awaiting insurance comebacks & keeping up the good energy with helpers most weekend’s & during the week. Thank you so much for your kind donation.

Its been a month since the floods in Hawkes Bay now, my brother hs taken his first day away from the block, he is dealing with insurance & admin. Tracy has hurt her toe & will see a doctor. Jack is a weekly border at his school & Zoe is enjoying being back at school. Ross & Ngaire are having a rest as Ross ( Dad ) is tired. Its their first rest in 26 days also.

Most of both houses are stripped, still work to do to clear out the properties. Many helpful teams of people are helping the arduous process. Thank you. Fiona
