Raising funds for Cyclone affected families.
Pakowhai, Hawke's Bay
Cyclone Gabrielle hit Hawkes Bay, astranomical amounts of rain water broke the stop banks & desimated many houses in my childhood area, my brothers house now a total rebuild the water was past the door frames, my parents house full of water & will hopefully be retrievable.
My brother has two kids who have pretty much lost everything, my elderly parents a high blow to their slow retired life.
My brother Troy is my oldest brother & helps so many people, he rescued lots of people in the floods & has always looked after my parents. He rescued them too. I have a beautiful family & they have lost alot, they will need to recover so many memories & belongings.
I live in Australia & had just 3 weeks returned from a month home in NZ. It breaks my heart that this has happened & as I can’t be there to help I thought this is a way I can help by setting up this give a little. My sister in law is from Canada so she has alot of family overseas too! The money raised can help them purchase some goods needed to get back on their feet. Having experienced the Northern Rivers Floods here in Australia almost a year ago to date - I know what a long physical & emotional recovery it is. If you can give a little they would hugely appreciate any help after this horrific disaster. Cyclone Gabrielle left a huge mess. My family is not a hand out family. We are all hard workers & have worked the land apple orchards & crops. We have been in the area since the early 70’s. They have insurance.
My family - brother, sister in law, niece, nephew, mother & father.
Computers, bikes, farm goods, clothes, school items, recover lost items from water damaging flood.

Hello All
I wanted to give a little update of my family’s progress post floods.
My brother Troys house is still awaiting zoning being finalised whether they can rebuild. He has taken it into his own hands and purchased a demountable 3 bedroom small home to put on the property so they can live back on their land & continue rebuilding the land, while they wait for the green light to rebuild the home.
They have just had a week away at a gifted holiday home a few hours north & relished in the time away and a little reset. Its been a arduous process thus far. Both mentally & physically. Troy has been a spokesperson for the area & holds community meetings bringing topics to the forefront & acting as a voice for the region. Recently the prime minister came to visit & Troy showed him some of the devistation & pointed out issues still to be resolved.
My parents Ngaire & Ross are faring well under the circumstances & are hoping the builders will make a start of rebuilding the family home. This will take 3-4 months. So fingers crossed it will all be smooth.
There is still alot of frustration regarding regulations & rebuilding etc but the family is open & supportive & have received alot of support. We thank you again for helping m family. I still haven’t been able to get back yet to NZ but hope to soon. Once again thank you so much.
