  • Final update

    We would like to start this message off by thanking everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the donations, love and support you have shown the Dabrowski family. We will now be closing this page. Your donations gave John more time with Zara, Ava and Mila. They allowed them to create more memories and share more firsts together as a family.

    On Friday the 20th September at 9:10am John passed away quietly with Zara by his side.

    Right up until the end John was a fighter. He had a smile on his face, never once complained or asked "why me?" and he made sure to love the 3 most important people to him as much as he possibly could.

    He has left a big hole in everyone's lives. There is a part of us that still refuses to accept his passing is real, and the other part is constantly replaying memories of John and making us smile and laugh through tears and sadness. The boys certainly sent him off with a roar of engines and plenty of smoke.

    All we can say is that we are all better people for knowing John and seeing how strong, upbeat and loving he was, even through the most challenging of times. We will all live the rest of our lives trying to be half the man John was and honouring his memory by sharing stories with each other and his girls. He won't be far from our thoughts and will never be forgotten.

    Rest in Peace John Dabrowski.

    Hi everyone,

    Since our last update, John has had 2 rounds of Avastin and Irinotecan and starts his 3rd round tomorrow. He perked up after the first round and is much more like his normal self. He was able to be a groomsman in Gemma and James' wedding on the 11th May and even managed to party until the wee hours of the morning with us all! John had an MRI yesterday and the results came through today. This is Zara's update;

    John had his scan yesterday morning and we saw the oncologist for his results this afternoon.

    The scan had some good and bad news.

    The bad news is that there is 4 tumors not the 2 we thought there were. The extra 2 are only tiny (4mm and 5mm) and were picked up on the previous scan before treatment started, we were just never told about them.

    The great news is, all 4 tumors are exactly the same size as they were 3 weeks before the treatment started! Which says the tumors have not grown and possibly have shrunk (assuming they grew in the 3 weeks of no treatment) and most of the swelling has come down! Making John feel heaps better and his symptoms improving hugely.

    Thank you, everyone, for the support and donations! We truly appreciate it and are still hoping for a miracle! We are on the right track ❤️

    On Friday the 19th April at 5:30pm this page was created, in 12 hours it had reached $10k and over the Easter weekend, we raised enough to get John two rounds of treatments. On Friday night 3 hours after the page went live Zara posted the below on Facebook;

    "I have not cried in front of our girls I have stayed strong for them! For the first time over these last few weeks I broke down in front of them and cried happy tears! of course they didn’t understand as they are just innocent little girls who were worried about why mummy was crying and cried with me bless them ❤️ I am overwhelmed by all the love and support we have. I can’t thank you all enough. John and I are sooo grateful for all of our amazing friends and family and to people who have no personal connection to our little family and want to help ❤️ you guys are beyond amazing ❤️ from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

    THANK YOU 🙏"

    And yesterday Zara posted this;

    "Thank you to every single one of you who have donated or shared! Im sorry I can’t thank you all individually but please know we are so grateful for every single dollar, big or small ❤️ John starts his treatment tomorrow morning 🙌 wish us luck that he can tolerate these drugs and they can give us more time 🙏❤️"

    This image is of John receiving his first round of Avastin and Irinotecan. Thank you everyone for your generous donations and sharing of the page!

    Since this page was started John has had 2 rounds of IV Vitamin C. Today, the 24th April, he started treatment to stop this tumor growing. He received Avastin and Irinotecan over the course of 4 and a half hours. Hopefully, as treatment goes on John is able to receive the drugs faster and get the time down to 2 and a half hours. Zara has sent me some photos to upload to keep everyone up to date. This one is of John getting his IV Vitamin C.
