After a hospital visit for a cough (November) we found in December 2022 our dad has 3-6 month life expectancy. Time is not on our side :(

Taranaki

On the 9th of December dad was told he has terminal cancer and his life expectancy is 3-6months 2 days later was his last birthday with us it broke our hearts to know the fear dad has around this.

Hearing him only say to my sisters dog “I don’t want to die” we have never felt so heartbroken and devastated having our last Christmas’s with dad was one of the saddest days and happiest the time we get is precious yet the end of this journey we walk with him has no happy ending, this is heartbreaking to write about my own dad and we are all still coming to terms with his life expectancy he is scared but fakes a smile and says he’s ok everyday, even when we know he’s in pain he’s lost weight barely eats and now sleeps most the day we want to be able to all come together to see dad before he is to sick to enjoy time with us and his grandchildren to support each-other and be together with dad one last time we don’t all live in Taranaki so getting home has been difficult this extra help will go toward making life more comfortable for dad and unexpected cost, increase in bills etc dad to be more comfortable this has come with so much stress and cost example today a $300 portable toilet as he is having trouble with the stairs in her home. My siblings do everything they can and I feel helpless not being able to help financially or go down often so I feel like this could help us all thank you so much Our dad is 65 and been completely deaf his whole life
