Dan wants to go to preschool for whole days!

Our wee boy Dan was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 18 months in 2023, he is almost 3 now. It was a rough time but life has almost returned to normal for him. He is a very happy, talkative little man who loves socialising and making new friends.

The one thing we haven’t been able to sort out with the Ministry of Education or any other exisiting charity is Dan returning to preschool for whole days. He currently attends Sunflowers in Hawarden a couple of mornings a week and would love to go for the whole day. Sunflowers have been great, but they are a little centre so really need another pair of hands to watch over Dan, make sure he gets the right amount of insulin for his meals and react to any random low or high blood glucose level events as well as care for the rest of their children safely. Currently they can do this until 11.30 which is when our fundraised carer would start.

I am in the process of setting up a charitable trust to make this more official and in the future be able to help out any children and parents in the same position as Dan. Unfortunately that takes time and Dan wants to go for full days now so I have set up an interim bank acc solely for this fundraiser and I will transfer any funds over to the charity when it is sorted.
