Danica & Skyla - Hair Because We Care
We are both cutting our hair to be made into wigs for cancer patients, while raising money for both Kiwi preservation and rescue animals 💕

Hi,
Our names are Danica (age 8) and Skyla (age 9). We have been been growing our hair so we can donate it and help some of our favourite charities.
Our hair will be cut short and sent to "Freedom Wigs" in New Zealand where it will be used to make wigs for cancer patients.
Any money raised will then be split between our two favourite charities:
I, Danica, will be donating to the "Pukenui Forest Trust" for the ongoing protection and preservation of the Kiwi that live there and their habitat. 🔑⚫ This includes my favourite Kiwi who I was so lucky to name when he was released. I chose to name him Chris Humfrey after my mate and favourite Zoologist, TV presenter and author.
And I, Skyla, will be donating to "Bay of Islands Animal Rescue" who work tirelessly to rescue and rehome animals. They have already rehomed more than 3000 dogs and hundreds of cats, horses, sheep, pigs, cows, ducks, chickens, rabbits and alpaca. 🐕🐈🐎🐖🐇🦆

John, Flash and Toast from "More FM Northland" will be cutting off our ponytails on air on Tuesday morning, 10 August, then "Little Hair Nation" in Kamo, Whangarei have generously offered to style our hair afterwards. 💇♀️
We are super excited to be able to do this and would really appreciate any contributions made so that we can forward them on to the Kiwi and rescued animals. We know they will appreciate it too! 😊

This fundraiser is being administered by two very proud Mums. Our girls are our inspiration and we fully support their desire to make the world a caring place, for humans and animals alike.

Funds Delivered - Thank You So Much 5 December 2021
An update:
Due to Covid restrictions it has taken a while for the girls to be able to deliver the funds they raised, but they are happy to announce that the funds have now been delivered to both charities and the recipients are absolutely thrilled.
Thanks to everyones very generous donations, Skyla and Danica raised a total of $750 for Bay of Islands Animal Rescue and Pukenui Forest Trust.
A couple of weeks ago the girls delivered a van full of food, bedding and toys to the Bay of Islands Animal Rescue and were over the moon to be able to play with some rescue pets while they were there.
And then earlier this week, they were invited to a special Christmas lunch for the volunteers and supporters of Pukenui Forest, during which they delivered the final $375 which was so gratefully recieved.
Thank you so much for your amazing support of Danica and Skyla and for your incredible, generous donations. These girls are so special and thoughtful and we are so proud of them! This was a 2021 highlight for them both and they couldn't have done it without your help!
