Dani's Journey update – This week has the Tyler family back up at Starship Hospital so Dani can have her CT scan and another round of intense Chemotherapy, the tests are still showing the tumour shrinking like we all hoped.

They met with the specialist today, who spoke about their concerns with regards to where the tumour is placed (right in the middle of Dani's renal function) this is going to make for a difficult operation to try and remove what's left of the tumour. The specialist has said that it is very unlikely the tumour will disappear altogether.

At this stage there is no talk on a date for the operation but will continue with the treatment plan that Dani has been on & just hope & pray that this thing shrinks a lot more.

There was also talk about further blood testing on Dani (this takes about 3mths as her bloods are sent overseas) to determine the generics of why this is happening to her more than once. The results from those tests will determine the testing for Tegan.

Dani is still very conscious of her body changes which will be ongoing battle for a while yet, but with the help of True Colours hopefully they will help ease Dani’s concerns.

Thanks Again for all your continued Support

A huge break-through for the Tyler Family??

The Tumour is shrinking, Dani is kicking its butt.

Dani had her first Clinic check-up and Chemotherapy at Waikato on Tuesday, We were all very nervous as this was the first time Dani would be awake while they accessed the port in Dani’s chest. Dani has been very self-conscious about the port and has been refusing to let anyone look at it, let alone touch it.

Yet this amazing wee girl took it like the Champ she is, no fuss, no tears and just got the job done.

The staff at Waikato were amazing with some of the nurses remembering Dani from her previous journey back in 2011.

A big thanks to Aunty Lou, just being there to support and keep Kylie and Dani calm during the Waikato visit. #unconditionallove

Still a long way to go but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel.

    Keep fighting Dani Girl

After 23 days spent in Starship/Ronald McDonald house the Tyler Family are finally back in Hamilton.

Dani is really struggling emotionally and physically with the changes to her body, the rapid hair loss has meant they have had to shave Dani’s head, just heart breaking to watch her try and cope with her new appearance.

Tuesday – Dani had yet another operation, this one was to get a port inserted into her chest to allow access for her Chemotherapy treatments, and to save having a luer inserted in her arm every time. Wednesday – Time for another round of Chemotherapy, after a test on her heart, they decided to increase her dosage of Chemotherapy to 3 formulas, unfortunately she was quite unwell after this round.

The next 2 weeks will consist of weekly day trips to Waikato Hospital for Dani’s Chemotherapy treatments and then they are back up to Starship for a few days for more Chemotherapy, an Ultrasound, MRI and CT Scan. Drs are hoping to see a big improvement on the size of the tumour.

Dani’s immune system is at 0, so if you are planning on visiting, please ensure you are completely bug free, if there is any chance you could be sick or carrying any bugs please stay away.

It is essential that Dani does not come into contact with any bugs as her body is not able to fight them.

Thanks again for your continuing support and prayers.

Dani has now moved into the Ronald McDonald House with the rest of her family and is making great progress.

The MRI on her head came back clear and her blood results have improved which means the Kidney is still functioning.

Today is round 3 of Chemotherapy and all going well Dani may be allowed to come back home next Wednesday, which will mean only day trips to Starship for her weekly treatments.

So far she hasn't been too sick from the Chemotherapy treatment, but unfortunately she has begun to lose her hair.

Still a long road ahead, but with all the love and support shown, it is making the journey a little easier.

The photo shown are the beads of courage that Dani has achieved since her journey began on 12th October.

Each bead represents a treatment (for example chemotherapy, injections, scans); an experience (hair loss, isolation, fever) or a milestone (completion of treatment).

Thanks again to everyone to who has donated to this amazing family.

Its been a bit of a roller coaster over the past week, ups, downs and in-between's as Dani has been coming to terms physically and emotionally with everything going on. Finding the right medication (nice tasting ones lol) the right dosages and the continual Dr and Nurse checks night and day.

Dani's kidney is starting to function again still with the assistance of the drain in place, but the catheter has now been removed allowing Dani to be a bit more mobile and comfortable, meaning a few more smiles.

Today is round 2 of Chemotherapy - here's hoping this tumour is getting a good blast and is starting to shrink.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support.

Dani had a good day today, she has had her first lot of Chemotherapy and so far is doing OK. She even managed to get out of bed today and go for a ride in the wheelchair.

The plan over the next 12 weeks is to continue weekly Chemotherapy and then re-scan her kidney to see if the tumour is shrinking, if this is the case they will continue with Chemotherapy until the tumour is at a size where they can remove it without taking the full kidney.

Dayne and Kylie would like to thank everyone for their amazing support in this fight for Dani.
