Darlene Kicks Cancers Butt!

On Friday the 3rd of May we were told that my beautiful wahine Darlene has been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer.

At only 20 years old this has come as huge shock to her and everyone around her. She is healthy, fit and is currently studying a Bachelor Of Social Science Majoring In Psychology and Human Development through Waikato. After her studies she is aiming to work with adolescents and start conversations around mental health and suicide. Darlene also hand sews swimwear under her own brand Fourty-Four the label and is huge advocate for empowering women of all sizes, unfortunately she has had to pause this for the time being until she is better.

Darlene is the most caring, kind and selfless woman you will ever meet and is the definition of "this couldn't of happened to a nicer person".

Doctors have recommend that she start Chemotherapy as soon as possible. We are just in the process of travelling back and forth to the fertility clinic in Hamilton to freeze her eggs as the treatment may affect her ability to become a mother later in life. This process is planning to take up the next 2 weeks, from then we will begin treatment.

We are looking for ANY financial support to help with ongoing cost for her and her family taking time off work, travel expenses and anything she needs while fighting this battle.

This is a such a hard time for everyone around us and especially Darlene. I know everyone is messaging her saying for her to "ask if she ever needs anything" but the truth is i know darlene, she wont ask. She doesn't want to stress anyone out more than they already are so if you think of ANYTHING that would be helpful go ahead and do it. I know everyone isn't in a position to help out financially but if you can think of any other way you might be able to help please do.

This beautiful girl has been strong throughout this whole thing and has continued to make everyone around her smile while dealing with all of this. I feel truly blessed to have someone as amazing as her in my life and I know we are going to get through this!
