My husband and I come to New Caledonia for a short holiday for one week from 21-28 October, unfortunately something terrible happened to my husband, Darryl on Wed 24 Oct at 9 pm, my husband had severe pain and he could not pee, so he has to be rushed to emergency at private hospital Clinique Kuindo-Magnin, the Doctor took blood test, CT scan and pee samples and found out kidney stone 6mm and gave Morphine as part of medication and prescription to take for tomorrow.
Next day he rest all day and start taking medication I bought from the chemist in the afternoon. The next morning on Friday, her condition was getting worst, he was in severe pain again and his stomach hard as rock/protrude. We went to hospital around 7.30 am and went straight for another emergency room. The Doctor examined him and said it was not the same pain as last time. He took another CT scan and they confirmed they found hole in his colon/Ruptured bowel and the effect of it there was a lot of bacteria inside the colon which threatening his life. He has Peritonitis. He has to be rushed to emergency surgery asap otherwise he dies if too late. The problem come as we did not have any travel insurance, the Southern Cross work insurance he has did not cover overseas treatment. I have prior contacted and explained the situation to them prior surgery. Regardless we have money or not the hospital will carry this urgent surgery as this is life threatening situation, saving his life is number one priority for this hospital. He went undergone surgery a couple hours later and since then he was in ICU from Friday until Tuesday 30 Nov then moving to normal Ward. He has his 60th birthday at ICU room on the 28 October. The saddest moment for his birthday.
Everyday it will cost us for his care at ICU and normal ward. The hospital has helped us a lot even they know we don’t have any insurance to cover the cost and money to pay for the surgery. Big thank you for the hospital, the nurses, caregivers and all staff who have taken care of him. I want to thank you for Caritas Community, they have helped me with providing accommodation and support me in this hard time. It is still long recovery for him once we get back to NZ.
Please help us by reducing the current stressful situation by giving assistance a little bit, your help means a lot to us. We all made mistakes in our life and so do we. Big mistake that gives us a hard and valuable lesson in our life and wise wisdom. Please don't judge us anymore. Thank you for your kind heart, an Angel heart like people here in New Caledonia.
I am Darryl Creeveys daughter, and Era Creevey is his wife, I'm setting up this page because he is my sole surviving parent and I love him.
With the hospital bill getting bigger by the day, Era's accommodation having to be extended and now they have missed their flights back to New Zealand, I am uncertain how their future is going to look, as dad is the sole provider for Era, and there is no guarantee if he will ever return to work, there's no guarantee he will even survive this, I'm a single mum with a 1 year old so have no other way to help out other than set this up and hope for the best. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, Jamie Creevey
Hospital bill, accommodation for Era, and possibly flights back home, if there was to be any money left over it would be donated to the SPCA
