Bay of Plenty

Dave is an amazing person who needs our support. Please help with funding, as he battles an aggressive form of kidney cancer. He’s humble, genuine, funny and kind with the biggest smile you'll ever see. He is an incredible father, husband, son, brother and friend, admired and loved by all his family and everyone that meets him. He is very sporty, exercises regularly and has a very healthy and varied lifestyle. Dave has a love of all music, tinkers on the guitar regularly and has a huge enthusiasm & passion for life. His biggest fan is his wife, partner, soul mate & best friend Nicky who often refers to Dave as her "rock".

Nicky & Dave have been living in the UK for the past year and recently made plans to come home to New Zealand to support Dawn, Nicky's beloved mum who is sadly battling with terminal cancer, this came as a great shock but little did they know the journey did not stop there.

On June 2018 Dave received the devastating news that he is suffering stage four Kidney cancer which is aggressive and advanced

After Dave's initial diagnosis, they unfortunately learnt the surgery needed would be a very complex procedure and it slowed any progress moving forward, At this stage they are desperately seeking a private surgeon to make his surgery a possibility. With the surgery it gives Dave a chance to pro-long his life and help him return to New Zealand. Our goal is to help Dave return to the BOP where he can soak up his once loved lifestyle and spend time with his treasured 16 year old daughter.

Nicky & family have had to watch Dave succumb to unbearable back pain, nausea, headaches, and the hardest to handle - having little or no energy to be his normal self. He has been admitted to hospital on & off for around-the-clock monitoring for persistent blood clotting, which gives them no choice in flying home to New Zealand.

Nicky & Dave have many, friends and family who are showing their support & love which has got them through so far .

They are both very humble people as most of you will know & will struggle to accept our help but its in times like this that we need to pull together & make their challenge as less stressful as we can and maybe lighten the load with giving just a little .

We all know Nicky is the first person to offer a helping hand and when times get tough she is always there. Its now our chance to give back and make a diffence .

I have been a close friend of both Nicky & Dave for many years. They have both been dealt such a life challenging situation which is out of their control and frankly just cruel. Creating this page will help them move forward and alleviate some financial stress ahead.
