Our dads cancer treatment

Auckland

Here I am doing a story on givealittle for my father something I never imagined of doing as I thought he was one of the most strongest men I new a kind loving father friend an one hardworking man but here I am about to tell u his story an battle with bowel cancer.

David Brian Brett was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2017 I’m sure with everyone’s knowledge of cancer u no it’s not pretty an it’s a fear upon the whole family as it’s a life cut short in most cases. my fathers cancer was treated for 3 an a half yrs with chemo at first we thought he had won he got treatment surgery an was cleared cancer free how happy everyone was.... To only discover it had come backs months later in full force my dad now has metastatic cancer or easy way of putting it advanced cancer... It occurs when cancer cells break off from the original tumor, spread through the bloodstream or lymph vessels to another part of the body, and form new tumours. Iv done my research hrs an hrs of research trying to find something anything to help my dad we tryed so much just in hope we could succeed with this fight. I read things that hurt my heart to the core an would never wish upon anyone. He has not given up an we are all so proud of him. He has had surgery after surgery cutting bowels out half his liver an so much more to help him fight his fight . The cancer is in his lungs liver lymph nodes an spreading through out.. treatments were slowly not working and leaving him weak tired an with no immunity not to mention all the other stuff that comes with chemo an radiation.

Yes even radiation one full course of 5 sessions did not work an left him more depleted. He is 66 yrs young an was fit as ever before this hit we have watched our father fight for yrs watched him age an have sicknesses an symptoms of this bloody cancer. We had to do something else so our dad was offered a payed treatment this would cost $40 000 dollars an we were losing hope so the youngest sibling of 5 took a loan out to help our dads treatments started at $5000 a treatment first $25000 went too then it dropped to $2000 every session this treatment has just stopped we ran out of money it hasn’t worked it kept it from growing an spreading but did not take it away. We are lost an broken we are watching our dad lose all hope an his battlle continues.

This is a lot of money the family are struggling to cover we are asking a lot an we appreciate any help anyone can give to us we haven’t given up dad is fighting a losing battle an we thank everyone who has taken the time to read his story an support us it really means a lot

I am one of his four daughters he has given me a great childhood an up bringing an has always been there for all of us now we are here for him.

We are asking for $40 000 that is just for treatment cost. We did not continue treatment as we could not afford more.

Sorry for a late update it’s been hard losing our dad an watching him go through something he shouldn’t have had to it was cruel an will haunt my memory forever to see him die that way. It’s a very horrible death an I feel so bad that our dad had to go that way he was strong until the end got up did everything himself until last few days he really did so well the pain seeing himself noing he was dieing was so incredibly sad an I now get anxiety thinking of it you never want someone u love that much to suffer that cruel an incurable death my brother his youngest stayed right beside him dad was his rock he was dads we have lost such a big part of us there was nothing left we could do.

Rip dad u where the best

No more pain

Never forget the sacrifices u made for all of us

A message from our brother Jacob

Hello every body it is Jacob Brett here I would just like everyone to know that my beautiful father passed away last night at 2:35am

I sleeped next to him in his favorite cheer holding his hand.

up to the point were he some how woke me and then beautifully passed away gently in front of my self and family.

The last couple of weeks for him was a real struggle and he can now rest.

He wanted me to let everyone no how grateful he was who had donated to his givealittle page for his treatment.

Unfortunately being lock down I can't have a funeral for him but I am going to plan something later on

I'm very lost for words and would just like to say Iove my dad so much as so dose all of his family.

Here are a few photos of dad ,Dave

I hope it must have been hard for you to see your dad loosing and the pain he has gone through. He must be resting in peace with no pain! My little donation to clear up the money that you would have taken as loans for your dad's treatment. I wish everyone take initiative to support your family and donate even little money to make a big difference in someone's life.
