What is Loud Shirt Day?
Loud Shirt Day is the annual fundraising appeal dedicated to raising money for deaf children with cochlear implant or hearing aids.
Be a star on Loud Shirt Day – Friday September 29th 2017 – and help deaf kids learn to listen and talk like their hearing friends. If you've taken part in Loud Shirt Day before you'll know it's a great way to commit serious fashion crimes and have a whole lot of fun at work or at school or in your social group. And if this is your first year being involved with Loud Shirt Day, we know you'll have a fabulous time wowing your colleagues and friends with your brightest, funkiest shirt.
The Hearing House is a charity for deaf children and their families. Our mission is to enable deaf or hearing impaired children to listen and speak like their hearing peers. We aim to give deaf children with cochlear implants or hearing aids the ability to fulfil their potential and live an independent life in a hearing and speaking world.
Money raised for Loud Shirt Day helps provide auditory-verbal therapy to deaf and hearing-impaired children so they can listen and speak like hearing kids. The aim is for deaf children to focus on their abilities, not their disability. This service is provided by The Hearing House (upper North Island) and SCIPP (south of Taupo).
Loud Shirt Day donations go to the region in which they were raised.
