I am starting this page to help support my sister and my nephew who suffers from a very rare and life threatning condition that is progressivly getting worst.

Deakon is 6 years old and was diagnosed in October 2015 with Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis.

What is Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis? Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a rare disease that is characterized by the growth of tumors in the respiratory tract. Although they primarily occur in the larynx on and around the vocal cords, these growths may spread downward and affect the trachea, bronchi and occasionally the lungs. There is no cure.

Deakon's mother Brooke recently recieved the heartbreaking news that Deakons case is severe. His condition is very aggressive and has caused severe scarring called a laryngeal web which is taking up a significant amount of Deakons breathing space. It has also resulted in the permanent lost of his voice. This has caused Deakon to develop anxiety and behavioural issues.

Deakon will be beginning a trial drug on Tuesday 14th March and if this doesnt work Deakon will end up having to have a tracheotomy inserted in order to breath.

His condition is life threatening therefore it requires him to travel to Hamilton (a 3hr drive away) every 3 weeks for surgery.

The cost of petrol, accomodation, food and other expenses begins to add up and the small amount she gets back from the government because of his condition takes weeks to be back paid and is not enough to cover all of her costs.

She is a mum to 3 children and this has affected her not only emotionally but financially also. I have created this page to try and remove some of the pressure and stress that comes with managing Deakons condition. I want her to be able to concentrate completely on Deakon and his health without having to be concerned about the financial side of things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind generosity.

Lets hope for a cure, lets hope for the management of Deakons condition and hope he gets to live a happy, healthy childhood.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
