MUM IS BATTLING WITH A LARGE BRAIN TUMOUR

  • Final funds so needed please......

My brave mum has completed her 28 sessions of brain radiotherapy and is home now. The treatment has been a lot harder than she thought it would be, and we are hopeful it has gone well. She has to wait a few months for the brain swelling to subside before a further MRI can give us the news we are so hoping for. She is struggling with hearing and headaches but soldiering on with no complaints. We are desperately needing to raise funds to see her through this period of tough recovery, as you can appreciate expenses and bills have to be paid still as well as getting special glasses for her sight, which are unaffordable to her and she needs them now so much. There is a very high chance that she will be having an ear operation to drain her ear in the New Year, an effect of the radiation. She is trying so hard to be her usual bright and positive self but I know that the financial stress is overwhelming her and making her physical and mental recovery so much harder. Please HELP MY MUM get better..... TRYING TO REACH $13,000. $3000 needed please, please.

I wanted to update everyone that has helped us, and those thinking about supporting my brave mum.

Debbie has just finished 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy to her brain, and goodness it has been very, very tough for her. But she has completed this course of radiotherapy.

Having now been taken home, she has to rest and slowly rebuild her strength, appetite and be patient and brave whilst the side effects subside over the coming weeks. She is very deaf due to swelling inside her head, has blurred vision, mouth ulcers, and severe nausea but STILL she doesn't complain.

SHE REALLY IS AN AMAZING EXAMPLE TO US ALL.

Her tiredness is acute as expected. Her neurosurgeon and oncology team have praised her upon her strength and determination to beat this.

We are now focused on raising vital funds to ensure her recovery and rehabilitation goes smoothly, with no added stress or distress of a financial nature.

Funds have all been used now, thank you so much everyone.

We need to fund special eye testing and glasses to help protect her eyesight and help her focus now that radiation in that area has been completed.

We also need to fund cochlea testing once the inflammation has decreased, as part of this has eroded. We are hoping she can get a hearing aid if it is viable given the damage.

We want to be able to give our very loved mum a really nice Xmas this year, a memorable one and any funds received will help us to do this for her.

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP OUR MUM GET EVERYTHING SHE NEEDS NOW AFTER TREATMENT.

The fight may have finished, but the war isnt over yet.

THANK YOU SO MUCH AT THIS EXHAUSTING TIME.

Kate and Michael, her proud children XXXXX

Today was mums first day of radiotherapy treatment and she handled it like an absolute champion. It was a tough day to say the least, not quite knowing what to expect but I’m so incredibly proud of how she overcame her fears and bit the bullet. 27 more days of treatment to go but we’re just going to take it one day at a time and deal with whatever is thrown our way, together as a family. Through your good, bad, difficult, scary days I’m here for you ma. Always. You’ve got this 👊❤️

Thank you everyone for your ongoing love and support. It really means a lot!

P.s Harry has been such a good boy and loves his mum so much 🐶

Mum has spent the day in Christchurch hospital having scans, measurements and her radiotherapy mask made.

If this treatment doesn't work she WILL go blind, the team explained it all to her today....a very challenging day, and emotional one for the family. Mum is being so brave :-)

  • Accommodation Costs

Accommodation is now being booked by the Cancer Society in Christchurch for two months, with a months neurological rehab afterwards. There is a shortfall of $40 per day plus living costs which we now need to find in addition to everything else. This is becoming urgent, as treatment starts in two weeks time.

We need to raise funds so that Deb can stay in Christchurch for two months and receive life-saving treatment and cover loss of income as well as help with finding glasses which she will need after radiology.
