Help us relieve the financial pressure for Mum so she can focus all her energy on getting better.
Otago
This is our mum, Debbie. If you know her, you know how amazing she is. If you don't, you are about to find out.
This women has been the strength in our lives. She was a single mum raising two strong willed, determined girls while working her butt off to make sure we had everything we needed, often sacrificing things for herself.
Through all the ups and downs in our lives, she has been the constant pillar of support, not only for us but also for her friends and family as well.
If you needed her she was there. All you had to do was pick up the phone and she would answer. No questions asked she would do anything to help you in anyway she can.
This woman is strong. She has had many hurdles thrown her way and each time she keeps going, fighting her way through it all and continuing on in life with her head held high.
It wasn't until we grew up that we realized how unbelievably strong our mum is and how grateful we are to have her in our lives.
Recently life decided to throw her one of the biggest hurdles she has had to face. Not only changing her life, but ours as well.
On the 17th July, while at home by herself, she had a stroke. Thankfully she managed to get help and was rushed to the hospital where she was given the medication to clear the clot. Unfortunately the blood vessels around the area where the clot had been had weakened and leaked blood onto her brain.
The damage has caused mum to have reduced use to her right side.
She is now beginning a new journey to recovery. The future is unknown. When she will be home is unknown. What kind of help she will need is unknown.
What we do know is life still goes on and bills still need paid. Without being able to work right now and little help from the Government we are left in limbo.
We are doing the best we can to make sure we can get mum back on her feet and into her own home again.
Many people have asked how they can help, so we have decide to set up a Give A Little page to give people the option of being able to help in anyway they can.
We also want to take this time to acknowledge the huge amount of support we have already received from people providing food, taking time to visit mum, checking in on us, just generally being there.
We are forever grateful for the amazing people we have in our lives.
This is my beautiful mother, the rock that holds our family together, my whole world.
Any funds raised will go directly to Mum to help cover everyday living costs, mortgage and any other requirement that she needs to be able to get her home and back to living independently.
