Supporting Dee and his family with rehabilitation back into some type of new life.
Palmerston North, Manawatu-Wanganui
Dee is unable to move his legs, his torso, and has limited movement in his right arm. Doctors can't figure out why! Dee needs full-time permanent care. He needs a hoist, a range of specialised equipment, and multiple helpers to go about his daily routine. To get him home we will need to make extensive modifications to our home. A lot of this will come at our own cost unless we put him into a home and go on the 2-year waiting list. There is also a funding battle with the 'support' agencies, as he doesn't fit nicely into anyone's box!
We are not the sort of people who like asking for help, especially money! We have already been SO blessed by our families, friends, and church community.
**Please note our previous Givealittle page raised 24k and can be found here: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/matua-dee-from-pe-teacher-to-wheelchair** We have used some of this for living in Burwood Spinal Unit when neither of us was being paid. We have $20k banked for the quoted bathroom modifications. The next lot of money is to turn the garage into his new bedroom, as he can't fit his equipment into our bedroom and doesn't want to live in the lounge! It feels so unnatural to ask people to 'give-a-little', but people keep asking us for this. So here it is... again. Please don't feel obliged to donate. We totally get it!

Thank you so much for your love & support.
Costs associated with integrating Dee back into some sort of new life. Lots of needed home modifications to create facilities that cater to Dee's new disability.
