To pay for an AED Defibrillator so I can save lives.
Auckland
As a recently graduated volunteer firefighter with a current co-responder medical qualification, I have signed up to the GoodSAM app. Which is an app that connects CPR trained people with St Johns, to assist if you are in the area before the ambulance.
What I need to make myself more effective In saving lives is an AED to carry in my Ute.
Brain death starts to occur 4-6 minutes after cardiac arrest if no one administers CPR or defibrillates the heart using an AED.
CPR alone is unlikely to restart the heart. Its main purpose is to restore partial flow of oxygenated blood to the brain and heart. The objective is to delay tissue death and to extend the brief window of opportunity for a successful resuscitation without permanent brain damage. Administration of an electric shock to the subject's heart, termed defibrillation, is usually needed in order to restore a viable or "perfusing" heart rhythm
It would be amazing if you could donate what you can towards making the community safer.
Cheers!
Funds will be used to purchase an AED Defibrillator and other equipment related to its use.
You did it! 26 July 2018
Well done and thanks so much for all the support. I now have enough to order a defibrillator and other medical supplies to carry in my vehicle.
Thank you.
Toby
