Dental work for Shelby

Shelby is 15 years old and attends Horowhenua College in Levin. Unfortunately he has some real struggles with his teeth. He had 2 extra half milk teeth erupt when he was younger and these have taken up the space for his front tooth to come down as he has grown older. This is causing lots of problems now. He’s a neat kid but the orthodontic work he needs to correct his teeth is quoted at $7,600 and there is no way that he or his family are able to afford that. He’s also not eligible for funding via WINZ (we’ve already checked) or via the under 18 dental subsidy. He has attempted to have the problem dealt with when he was younger but it has been really difficult for him to get the sort of money needed together. The Youth One Stop Shop in Palmerston North and the Horowhenua Youth Health Service have contributed $400.00 towards Shelby’s initial appointment at his orthodontist and the Manawatu Dental Group have offered him a 20% discount on the price but that still leaves us $5,760.00 to raise to get the work done. Any funds you might be able to put towards Shelby’s dental work would be hugely appreciated.
