We're looking for any help available to feed and cover the horses during the upcoming winter.
Otago
Hi I'm Dave (Amy's husband)
After a normal Sunday ride with friends, my wife Amy and her sister Sarah received a text to say that their leased tack shed was burning down, with all their horses feed, rugs, and gear in it.
The Queenstown equestrian community has been incredibly generous with loaning rugs for short term use, however winter is fast approaching, and feed and covers alone for 5 horses is a huge expense to fork out in one big hit. This has been incredibly humbling for the girls, who wouldn't expect anything.
It is hoped the insurance will cover the larger items, however this is not guaranteed and unlikely to cover a lifetime of gear that had been collected.
I thought what's the harm in getting the ball rolling and see if we can recoup some of the losses and start to buy some essentials like winter feed, storage buckets and warm rugs as the nights will soon be getting colder and colder.
The girls have had their ups and downs this week, which is understandable. The local horse community and friends have been amazing.
Anything would be much appreciated from the tiny to what ever may suit.
Dave (Amy and Sarah)
My wife Amy, and her sister Sarah (my sister in law) between them own the 5 horses that the funds will be spent on.
Any money received will be divided equally amongst the horses to go towards new or secondhand covers, and feed for winter
Thank you so much Shane xo
