  • Sad News

      1 January 2022

It is with tremendous sadness that we inform you that Doug has passed away.

He fought hard to survive. Many generous people on Team Doug gave in cash and in kind. Although not a man to show outward emotion, Doug often expressed how deeply grateful he was for everyone's support. You meant the world to him and his family.

They are numb and exhausted. We will give them the space and time to grieve and regroup.

We will post another update once more information becomes public.

Thank you all for your support.

  • Doug Update

      28 October 2021

We've been very silent of late about Mr Doug's progress. Many concerned parents and community members are asking how things are going. Doug is receiving his treatments and it would be fair to say that it's been a hard road. He is very fatigued and is currently in the hospital for observation and further testing.

  • 29 July 2021 Doug Update

      29 July 2021

    Dear Team Doug,

We have good news to share. We've raised enough funds to pay for Doug to receive Yervoy treatment!

There are many companies and individuals who contributed to this effort. From young children who donated their pocket money to local companies who got behind this cause. Thank you one and all!

We will keep this page active until Doug has completed his recovery. There will be a lot of valleys and hills to travail before we reach that point.

Doug will not be able to work until he regains his health so any support will be appreciated.

Well done team. Our efforts to date have been outstanding.

    Take a bow.

  • Doug's progress - 16 June 2021

      16 June 2021
    Main image

Doug received his first treatment of Keytruda about a week ago.

It would be fair to say that he is feeling the effects of that this week. He is in hospital awaiting some more scans. While he is feeling "flat" and he is struggling to get a good night's sleep, his spirit and will are strong.

We are happy to report that we have the grand total of $32037.95 raised so far.

Once we reach $80k, Doug will be able to begin the Yervoy treatment.

Please continue to share this link far and wide. Encourage as many people as possible to support Doug. Go along to the Party on the Hill at the Rugby Club on 24 July.

There will be an auction with the proceeds going to Doug's treatment. It promises to be a fun night!

    Thank you for your support.

  • Kiara's Gift

      31 May 2021

When 6-year-old Kiara heard that Mr Doug wasn't well she knew what needed to be done.

She would donate an iPad mini that her mum had won because Mr Doug needed a lot of money to help pay for his medication.

When asked if she would rather keep the iPad she said, "no we've already got one and Mr Doug needs it more!"

Kiara would like us to raffle the iPad so that we can make a billion dollars for Mr Doug!

Thank you Kiara we admire your generous spirit.

  • Doug Starts Treatment Next Week

      26 May 2021

    Kia ora tatou,

We caught up with Doug yesterday. He is in good spirits. He told us that he has lost his boogie by the time the afternoon comes around. But his humour is still razor-sharp and ready to be unleashed at any time!

After consulting his specialist, the treatment plan will be some Chemo followed by Yervoy ($80k).

We will keep our goal set at $147k and reassess things as his treatment progresses.

There will be a mufti day on Friday 28th May at school. Our kids are very busy writing letters to Mr Doug.

We have some raffles in the pipeline. More information to come.

    Thanks for all the support.
