The carousel installation is now nearing completion and we are really looking forward to seeing it being used 🥳. We sincerely thank each and every one of you for your very generous support of this great project and hope that it will bring lots of enjoyment to our young ones. We are now working on getting roll out matting to allow wheelchair and mobility scooters access to the beach. Thank you.

We would like to extend our most sincere thanks to all you wonderful people who have contributed to this very worthwhile project. Our page closes on the 31st May, but, with a much appreciated contribution from the Nelson North Lions Club, and other fund raising projects that our Nelson Host Lions Club is undertaking, we have now reached our target. Nelson City Council are assisting by paying for the installation and other requirements for this Accessibility Carousel. Thank you to each and everyone of you 😊.

We are so grateful for all the wonderful support that we have received to date for the accessibility carousel for the children of Nelson. Our Lions Club is working very hard on other fund-raising projects as well but we would really appreciate any help that you can give by spreading the word for us.

  • Rosie's wish for an accessible playground

      29 March 2021

All Rosie Riley wants is to be able to play on a playground with her younger sister. She is a cheeky six-year-old who loves swimming, music and kung fu. She also has cerebral palsy. That means that she cannot walk or talk and is confined to a wheelchair. However, because of the design of Nelson's playgrounds, it means that Rosie can only watch on as her sister Izzie goes off to play.

That is why Nelson Host Lions Club are asking for your assistance to purchase an accessible carousel to give children like Rosie something to do at the playground. President, Dave Pullen, says it is all about giving something back to children who are less fortunate, and hopes that locals will get on board to help out.

We are so grateful for the donations being made. We are working with the Nelson City Council to get this project up and running as soon as possible, and just need everyone's help no matter how much to make this happen 😊.
