Disabled GSD needs help

Luka has settled down a lot with her nervous behaviour and we finally were able to have a physical exam done at the vet with her vaccinations being completed and blood tests taken. We received the Give a Little donations last Thursday, as they pay out after the 20th of the month following the donations being received. In the interim she has had a hard to control urine infection, clearing after antbiotics but returning just days after stopping. As this has happened a few times too many, urine sent to the lab for culture to make sure the right antibiotic is being prescribed. Unfortunately while she has an active infection surgery of any type is off the table. Just got word that her blood tests are all in normal range, which gives hope there is not any serious infective element. Her appetite is not the greatest, definitely not food driven, but this is understandable with a urine infection. We are doing what we can in her best interests and looking forward to the day that she is clear to proceed with the important issue of sorting out the issue with her leg.

She had a vet visit yesterday, urine test still shows bacteria present so a further course of antibiotics. No surgery can be done until infection is clear. She is getting more relaxed now but still very uncomfortable around new things, which is not surprising. She is starting to wag her tails now. Photos of her looking relatively relaxed while waiting for vets. Considering we could not even get her through the vet clinic door, this is real progress. I just want her to get this infection cleared so we can attend to her leg problem and make her feel painfree.

Our grateful thanks to all who have donated so generously. Our goal has been reached. Treatment has had to be delayed due to "Luka" having a urine infection which needs to be cleared up before any surgical intervention. 11mths of very little interraction is a slow process to gain her trust but slowly but surely we will get there. Once she is no longer in discomfort from both the UTI and leg issue, she will feel so much better. Thank you all for making this possible for her.

Thanks so much for the unbelievable response. The wee girl is quite anxious with suddenly having people in her vicinity. Foster home have been very patient and letting her settle. We have a suspicion she may have come into season or possibly a UTI, urine sample will rule out the latter. We have organised for a double door giant size crate for her to be in as she likes to settle in her own space. As soon as we know whether it is a UTI or her being in season the investigations will begin. Again thank you, thank you all so very much.
