Urgent: Food and Shelter for Moalboal
International
On Thursday 16th of December typhoon Rai/Odette caused widespread destruction across the Philippines. With winds of over 250kph almost all trees, power lines and non-concrete structures were destroyed all over the island of Cebu and there was a lot of destruction in my son Axiel's home town Moalboal, also where I lived for 2 years.
Luckily his dad Ariel's family and friends are all uninjured but are now expected to be without electricity for the next 4-12 weeks. Food supplies, drinking water and gasoline are all sparse and hard to get. There has been next to no support from the government or any officials and they must rely on themselves and the community to survive.
Along with the nearly 2 year lockdown and lost of tourism and income, life is even harder now. They need any help we can give for essential goods and to help neighbours get back on their feet, some of whom have had their houses and belongings destroyed.
If you have a little extra to spare this Christmas and are so inclined to help strangers halfway across the world, please do. We would be deeply grateful. Any amount we are able to raise will be passed directly to Kalle Epp, my previous boss in Moalboal who is organizing relief operations and will distribute the funds accordingly.
We would ask that you give whatever you can and spread the word as much as possible, as it's currently not being reported much. All help is appreciated and if you have any questions please message me.
